For today’s Meat and Greet, we’re featuring the manager of Amos’ Place – Erica! She has worked for Stoltzfus Meats since July of last year and has been such a wonderful addition to the team at our Intercourse, PA location.
Q: Tell us a little bit about you and what you like to do outside of work.
A: I’m a big reader and a have a ton of plants. Those two things take up most of my time outside of work! I have over 60 house plants and taking care of them feels like a part time job, honestly. And if I’m not reading a physical book, I’m probably listening to an audio book while taking care of my plants. I love to host game nights and take trips back to my hometown to visit family. I have a niece and nephew so I try to make it home at least once a month to see them and the rest of my family.
Q: What is your role at Stoltzfus Meats and what are your main responsibilities?
A: I’m the restaurant manager for Amos’ Place, which is located within our retail store in Intercourse, PA. My main responsibility is making sure that my team produces consistent and quality meals in a timely manner to our guests. We have been finishing up some renovations and a line expansion, which has allowed us to operate more efficiently and handle higher volume. We are still working out the kinks, but it has been a smooth process, all things considered, and I’m really proud of the team.
Q: What does a typical workday look like for you?
A: A typical workday includes office time, meetings, being on the line during our busier times, and spending time in the back kitchen to help prep. My assistant manager and back kitchen supervisor are absolutely amazing, so it allows me to be flexible and just be where I’m needed most each day.
Q: What is your favorite Stoltzfus Meats product?
A: Definitely the bacon. We cook about 44 baking sheets of bacon 4 times a week and it is so hard not to steal some right out of the oven every day. It makes the whole kitchen smell so good and its always perfectly crispy and flavorful.
Q: If you could go anywhere or do anything for a day, what would you do?
A: To the beach! I used to live closer to the Jersey shore and could get to my favorite beach in 45 minutes. I really miss it. During covid, I would go upwards of 4 times a week and just sit on the beach all day and read. I wish I could say something more exciting than that, but that’s really my dream day off anymore!
We hope you enjoyed learning more about Erica. Make sure to say hello the next time you get a meal from Amos’ Place!
