In this month's "Meat" & Greet segment, we would like to introduce you all to Jan, the human resources manager, here at Stoltzfus Meats. While most of our customers probably never get the chance to see Jan, he plays a crucial role in the functioning of the company. We're excited to let you get to know him a bit more this week!
Q&A
Q: As HR manager at Stoltzfus Meats, what are some of your main responsibilities?
A: I am responsible for the “people stuff”. Things like insurance, 401(k), Employee Assistance Program, and our response to the pandemic. I also take care of reporting requirements to government agencies like Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC). I represent Stoltzfus Meats to the Lancaster Chamber and the Lancaster Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM).
Q: What is your favorite part of your job?
A: My favorite part of Human Resources is the humans! I get to help our employees in many ways. I love interacting with employees at all of our locations. They are each unique and interesting people.
Q: Outside of work, how do you like to spend your time?
A: I enjoy time with family, playing games, traveling, and baseball, particularly the Kansas City Royals and the Lancaster Barnstormers.

Q: What is your favorite Amos’ Place menu item?
A: I enjoy a Stoltzfus Sausage Sandwich when I eat at Amos’s Place. I usually get it with the sweet potato fries. They are delicious!
